Successful Parking HR Strategies

Marlyn Group is presenting a session at the Ohio Parking Association Conference next week on successful parking human resources strategies. We hope to see you there on Wednesday, May 10, but in case you can’t make it, here are a few highlights of regulatory requirements and best practices that we will discuss.

Employment Branding is a Must

Gallup recently released their latest State of the American Workplace report, and one of their findings was that 77% of career seekers review the websites of the companies they are considering as potential employers.  In order to attract the best candidates, companies must establish an online presence that tells the story of the organization in terms of its culture and career opportunities.  If you’re looking for ways to establish your employment brand, check out this post

Develop and Retain Your Workforce

The same Gallup report estimates that each year $483 - $605B in lost productivity in the workforce can attributed to a lack of employee engagement.  Only 33% of their respondents stated that they are engaged at work.  For those of you who still believe that activities like onboarding, performance coaching and training are a waste of time, hopefully this statistic has gotten your attention.  These are all tactics you can use to improve engagement.

Respectful Employee Exits

Employee exits are a sensitive subject, especially when an employee is being asked to leave.  If you are ever in the position where you are letting an employee go, allow the employee to leave the workplace with dignity by avoiding the walk of shame.  What I mean by this is, don’t ask the employee to pack up his or her office when the termination takes place forcing him or her to walk out of the office carrying a box of personal possessions with coworkers around.  Offer to have the items packed and couriered or for the individual to return after work hours at a pre-arranged time to obtain these items.

These are just a few of the topics we will discuss at the Ohio Parking Association Conference on May 10th.  If you aren’t able to join us and have a question regarding talent acquisition, human resources or training in the parking industry, drop us a line at letsconnect@marlyngroupllc.com
